What to Expect at Camp:
An Amazing Location
Camp More takes place in Rockaway Beach, Oregon at beautiful Camp Magruder. Nestled in the forest between the Pacific Ocean and beautiful Smith Lake, this camp facility makes the perfect location for Camp More campers to experience all the best that nature has to offer. There is sand, lake front, beach access, hills, sports fields, indoor and outdoor meeting spaces, a boat dock, and a rustic art shed. Daily curriculum and activities will have campers accessing all parts of these beautiful grounds, all while accompanied by Camp staff or trained graduate student camp counselors.
Campers will stay in cabins with graduate student counselors. Cabins are all equipped with bunk beds, lights, electrical outlets, and heat. Some cabins also offer bathrooms and kitchen facilities.
A Variety of Activities
While at Camp More campers have access to a wide array of activities. In addition to their daily group assignment of ONE of the following “morning major” groups- Arts and Crafts, Drama, Sports and Movement, or Science and Nature- there will be blocks of daily free time for campers to explore their interests in a variety of supervised activities. In past years these activities have included kayaking, fishing, yoga, hiking, candle making, crafts, tie dying, archery, challenge courses, a giant, tree top swing, beach time, and more.
There is never a shortage of nutritious, filling, and satisfying meals while at camp. Our campers never go hungry and always have a large assortment of items to choose from including fresh fruits and vegetables offered at every meal. Special diet? No problem. Just go to our 'Forms' tab and select, complete, and send in the Alternate Dietary Request Form. Camp Magruder cooks are well equipped to accommodate most dietary restrictions and requests.
The Time of Their Lives
Campers will have never have a moment at camp where they will be able to say they are bored. Between elected activities, discussion groups, special programming, and mealtimes, campers are constantly engaged in all things Camp More.
